Even though movie audiences were willing to accept Cary Grant as a romantic leading man regardless of his age, it was seeing how much older he looked than his leading ladies (Doris Day in this film, Audrey Hepburn in Charade and Leslie Caron in Father Goose) that convinced Grant it was time to retire. In his final film, 1966's Walk Don't Run, Grant played a character part rather than a leading role and, once he formally declared himself "retired," never appeared on the big screen again.
