Although Don Simpson reportedly did not like the film's concept, early in the film's development, Simpson had suggested an idea that in the first act, the plane should crash into a gated community of wealthy people, and the convicts would then go on a murder spree, wanting to make the project similar to Bronx 41º distretto di polizia (1981).
