In the theatrical cut, Chazz Palminteri's character Matt Gavin gets away with murdering billionaire Kyle Medford who was revealed to have blackmailed him and wife Katrina played by Linda Fiorentino with pictures of her having sex with other men. But in the director's cut, his friend San Francisco DA David Corelli played by David Caruso had recorded the conversation between Matt and Katrina about Medford and gets out of the car with intent of arresting his best friend Matt.
