Shah Rukh Khan was offered the cameo role of the second alien (that was played by Ranbir Kapoor) at the end of the film but declined. He actually also was in consideration for the role of Sarfraz Yousuf, but director Rajkumar Hirani decided against casting him since he wanted a younger actor to play that role. Sushant Singh Rajput was then selected.
