The 1967 Citroen 2CV that appears in the film, a rarity on American roads in any era, was purchased new from the factory in Paris by a vacationing Marin County school teacher soon after it was manufactured. After driving it during a short European holiday, the teacher shipped it to California, where it's been ever since. After passing to a series of owners, it occasionally is exhibited, more or less in its original form, at American Graffiti-related events, including a 2012 fair at Petaluma, where the movie was filmed. The 2012 exhibitor also owned (or still owns) the white 1956 Thunderbird that appears in the film, and it was shown alongside the 2CV at the Petaluma fair.
