Like with Alien (1979) and Prometheus (2012), director Ridley Scott storyboarded almost the entire movie himself. During pre-production, Scott always has extensive conversations with the writers and designers, and simultaneously draws his own storyboards which the crew affectionally calls 'Ridleygrams'. As to the reason, Scott said "shooting this stuff, you gotta know what the hell you're doing."
