Throughout Star Trek history, we have heard about warp fields or a static warp bubble, but in this film you actually get to see this, when the Enterprise is warping. The ship's nacelles create a warp field that surrounds the ship and moves the space around the ship, while actually the ship is standing still. Warp drive has been considered like riding a surf board in many articles. The ship does not move, but space around it does. Scotty even says this in Star Trek (2009), when he mentions in his transwarp theory, he never thought of space to be the thing that was moving.
