The actress playing snake-in-the-grass, bitter gossip columnist Molly Luther (a character presumably based on Louella Parsons and/or Hedda Hopper) is Coral Browne, the Australian-born stage actress who, several years later, married Vincent Price. She made two films in a row for Robert Aldrich in 1968, the other being "The Killing Of Sister George"; at this time, she described Aldrich as "a wonderful fellow". Apart from her Aldrich films, she is perhaps best remembered by American audiences for playing Rosalind Russell's best friend Vera Charles in 1958's "Auntie Mame".
