Considering that the main conflict of the film is the envy of Salieri ( F. Murray Abraham ) for the superior talent of Mozart ( Tom Hulce ) always overshadowing him, it's rather ironic that both thespians received a Best Actor Academy Award Nomination for their role in this movie, with Abraham / Salieri ultimately prevailing over Hulce / Mozart.
