Michael Jackson was considered at one point for the role of Billy Flynn, as he was director Rob Marshall's original choice for the role, but executive producer Harvey Weinstein objected to the idea of Jackson playing the role, as he felt more attention would be paid to him rather than to Catherine Zeta-Jones and Renée Zellweger.
