The character Pilar Estravados is never part of the novel Mirder at the orient express. Instead she is part of Agatha Christie's novel Hercule Poirots Christmas and was simply adapted for the film. Interestingly when Pilar is introduced in the Hercule Poirot Christmas novel she rides a train to a foreign country.
