At 9 minutes into the movie, Geena Davis's character, Samantha Caine, is driving home Earl, an intoxicated member of her Christmas party, in a Volvo station wagon when they are involved in a car accident where the vehicle strikes a deer then a tree. In the beginning of the movie Beetlejuice - Spiritello porcello (1988), Geena Davis's character, Barbara Maitland, is driving a Volvo station wagon, same body style as in The Long Kiss Goodnight. She swerves to avoid a dog and drives off a covered bridge causing her and her husband's death.
