(at around 10 mins) Upon finding the Time Displacement Device, a Resistance member asks "What is that thing?", and John Connor replies "Fate". He is referring to his creed "The future is not set; there is no fate but what we make for ourselves" that was first mentioned in Terminator 2 - Il giorno del giudizio (1991), meaning that he sees the device as a means to change humanity's future.
