The opening music is based on the aria "Il mio tesoro" from Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It appears several times. For instance, Louis' mother plays it on the piano, and his father sings it near the start of the movie. This was, and still is, one of the most popular arias for tenor voice, often performed in recitals and concert halls. Lev Tolstoy's novel "Anna Karenina" opens with a character who recalls hearing it sung the preceding night, at a dinner-party.
