In one scene, Kyle asks John how he knew so much about the machines and future events. The irony in this question, is that John's knowledge comes from Kyle himself in a twisted "loop" of inherited knowledge. Kyle learns all he knows from watching John seemingly "predict" events and having inside intel on the machines. When Kyle goes back to the past, he tells Sarah all that he knows. Sarah eventually tells her son all that she knows and eventually lives it out in front of Kyle.
