Producer Ovidio G. Assonitis fired director James Cameron after a week, stating that Cameron made too many mistakes because of his inexperience. He claimed that Cameron had failed to film a close-up of an actress during a boat scene, which forced Assonitis to do it himself and spend a whole day reproducing the circumstances of the original scene to finally get the shot. He also said that Cameron's involvement caused the film to go "heavily over budget" after two weeks of filming. Cameron confirmed that he shot the morgue scene and one of the outdoor daylight scenes on the ocean; the rest was mostly shot by Assonitis.
