While he does not say it, Captain America being the last man standing and being ready to fight Thanos and his army, even though the odds are against him, calls back to the moment in the "Infinity Gauntlet" comic where Cap tells Thanos that as long as one man is left standing, he has not won yet. Additionally, Thanos destroys Cap's shield during their battle, which is something that also happens in the original comic.
