There was originally a scene that was cut from the script in which, as part of the Delta initiation, Pinto, Flounder and the other recruits had to chug a lot of beer and douse out bonfires up a hill by puking all over them. This was based on an actual event that happened to writer Chris Miller when he was at Dartmouth College called "Night of the Seven Fires". The scene was cut after producer Matty Simmons felt the scene was "too gross".
