The teleportation device shown in this film is almost 100% consistent with descriptions given by alleged time traveler Andrew D. Basiago of a machine called a "chronovisor," which he described in detail to radio host Art Bell. This would not be the first time Marvel has taken ideas from such fringe sources: the "Chitauri" in The Avengers (2012) were taken from the conspiracy theories of David Icke.
