Actor-writer-director Albert Brooks has said in a 2012 interview for "The Essentials" that he started working on his later film Lost in America (1985) about two years after his then-previous picture Modern Romance (1981) which he also co-wrote with that movie's co-writer, Monica Mcgowan Johnson.
