Sue's prom dress is red, and when Carrie visits the dress shop to buy fabric for her prom dress, she briefly looks at a red dress in the window display. This is a subtle nod to Carrie's dress in the novel, which was red. In every film adaptation of the novel, her prom dress was always changed to pink.
