Early in the movie, Viktor and Elaine talk about how they started in the film world in realistic and artistic small indie New York productions in the Seventies. Al Pacino himself became a respected actor starring in some of those movies, such as Panico a Needle Park (1971), Serpico (1973), Quel pomeriggio di un giorno da cani (1975) or Cruising (1980).
