Paramount was the US distributor of the movie. Almost two decades later, they acquired the rights to Lynch's TV series "Twin Peaks", rights now held by sister company CBS Studios. Another sister company of Paramount, Simon & Schuster, published the official Twin Peaks tie-in books in 1990 and 1991.
