King Colbert (Kenneth Mars) comes to the defense of his son by asking Queen Tabitha (June Foray) if she remembers being sixteen. This was precisely the problem that Mars' character (King Triton) had in La sirenetta (1989) which also starred Jodi Benson and was similarly based on a Hans Christian Andersen fairytale.
