It's ironic that Scooby Doo eventually became a live action movie, because the gang featured in Scooby-Doo, dove sei tu? (1969) and its remakes is actually based on the real actors/characters from The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis (1959), a live action sitcom from the same network, CBS. Fred is based on Dobie, Shaggy is Maynard, Velma is Zelda and Daphne is Thalia.
