Originally, the play takes place during the Winter. However, due to the budget and the schedules of the actors, James Foley had to film in the Summer and in keeping with the tone of cold, he decided that heavy rain would play a factor into the first half of the film much like the freezing cold did in the play as the salesmen went out on their sits with prospective buyers.
