In a 2019 interview with Antenna TV, Parker Stevenson said that he and Burt Reynolds were introduced to each other by Burt's manager at a DGA dinner. Burt told Parker that they were going to work together. About a month later, Burt called Parker and said, "I'm sending you a script. There's no part in the script for you, and you're gonna get an offer. Don't worry about it, it's going to be great. Just say, "yes", just say, "yes". Don't negotiate. Don't cause problems. Just say, "yes". The role he ended up getting was Aubrey James.
