Passed by the British Board of Film Censors with an "A" certificate on 17 September 1959 and premiered in London at the Astoria, Charing Cross Road on 27 October 1959 where it ran a respectable 28 weeks, closing on 8 May 1960. United Artists eventually released the film at normal prices from Sunday, 6 November 1960.
