Of the casting of the character Henry (Eddie Izzard), producer Sue Murray said: "Whoever played Henry had the capacity to do drama as well as comedy. We knew Eddie would definitely encapsulate the sense of a British thespian and we felt sure, especially after seeing 'Victoria & Abdul' [2017], that he could really play drama. I knew he was going to be a fascinating person, and just on the drive from the airport to his hotel, his questions, the curiosity, the intelligence and the knowledge . . . what a treat!. His humor is very surrealistic. Going out to dinner or sitting around at the meal breaks, the stream of consciousness is just wonderful."
