The opening scene with the helicopters in the Syrian desert was originally scripted to be in Iraq. However, consultants pointed out that, at the time, unmarked helicopters would have either been shot down by the U.S. military or shot at by Iraqi insurgents. David S. Goyer changed the scene to Syria.
