The protesters outside of the hospital where Dussander is being kept, both the Holocaust justice group and the Neo-Nazi skinheads, were portrayed by uncredited cast extras. The only actor who has ever received recognition as one of the protesters is Robert 'Duckie' Carpenter, a Seattle-based actor who played the role of one of the prominent skinheads. Carpenter had also played a skinhead cast extra on the film American History X not long after the making of Apt Pupil. The anti-Nazi protest signs that the Holocaust justice protesters carried were homemade and brought in as props by the cast extras.
