The Hollywood Film has ZERO connection to the REAL "Hollywood Chewing Gum." America does have a connection to introducing Gum to France. Gum has been around for thousands of years, but it was an invasion of France that brought Chewing Gum to France. In 1944, American GI's passed out gum to French Kids. This new novelty was most popular with the French People. A GI named Courtland E. Parfet survived the Invasion of Normandy. The Veteran settled down in France and created "Hollywood Chew Gum" in 1952. Tasty or not, this may explain why Hollywood Chewing Gum is still popular in the 21st Century France.
