Director Paul W.S. Anderson cast his wife Milla Jovovich as the lead in Monster Hunter following the success of their previous collaborations on the Resident Evil film series. This was the sixth time Anderson directed Jovovich in leading roles, after four Resident Evil films and one Three Musketeers movie.
