As was typical of movie versions of Broadway hits at the time, this was "adapted" from the 1924 stage success "No, No Nanette," but was changed substantially from the original version. The title was taken from one of the show's bggest hit songs, the time period was moved from the early 1920s to the year of the stock market crash (1929) numerous songs from the stage score were dropped, and songs from other sources (among them "I Only Have Eyes for You") were added.
