In a recent EMMY TV LEGENDS interview Jimmie Walker said that Norman Lear did not like "Mary Tyler Moore" type shows; non-issue oriented romantic comedies; because they were "too soft". "He appreciated the Mary Tyler Moore Show," Walker said in the interview. "But producing a show like that was out of the question for him, because it was too soft."
