Whoopi Goldberg, who plays Ursula in this film, has a long history with Disney. She voiced Shenzi the Hyena in Il Re Leone (1994) and its direct-to-video midquel Il re leone 3 - Hakuna Matata (2004), as well as voicing Stretch the Rubbery Octopus in Toy Story 3 - La grande fuga (2010) and the Magic Mirror in Disney XD's I 7n (2014). She has had a few live action roles, including Queen Constantina in Cinderella (1997), as well as appearing as herself in Muppets Tonight (1996).
