Towards the end of episode four, "...The Ruthless Pursuit of Blood with All a Child's Demanding", Daniel tells Louis that reading Claudia's diaries is like reading "Anne Frank meets Stephen King." Anne Rice, who wrote the "Interview With the Vampire" novel and The Vampire Chronicles series, had shown her admiration for Stephen King as a fellow author. At one point, Rice stated that she couldn't keep up with King's immense workload.
