Murray Burnett (a high school teacher) and Joan Alison co-authored (the former while on summer vacation) the play, 'Everyone Come to Rick's', which was the basis for Casablanca (1942). As Rick, Joan Alison had envisioned Clark Gable, who, she said, was her "concept of a guy that I would like . . . I hated Humphrey Bogart. I thought he was a common drunk."
