When Ray (Nick Nolte) tells Marge (Tuesday Weld) he has a place in L.A. while driving on Interstate 5 Southbound he states it will take 8 hours to arrive. This would be true when they made the movie as the National Speed limit at the time was reduced to 55mph by President Nixon in 1974 due to the oil crises, but in 1971 which is the year the movie was set it would probably only take 6 hours depending on traffic.
