The fourth of six John Grisham film adaptations to be shot in anamorphic 2.35:1 format. The others are Il rapporto Pelican (1993), Il cliente (1994), Il momento di uccidere (1996), L'uomo della pioggia (1997), and La giuria (2003). Il socio (1993) is the only one not to be filmed in 2.35:1 but in 1.85:1, which director Sydney Pollack later regretted not filming in anamorphic format.
