There are several references to the show Gilligan's Island in the movie. One of the references is Bertram mimics Skipper's hat whack when he whacks Ham and later Squints with his baseball cap. Another reference to the series is when Benny has a dream sequence. This is similar to when the castaways (except for Ginger) have dream sequences. Smalls is also similar to both Gilligan (Bob Denver) and The Professor (Russell Johnson).
