During the dance, Bev describes Liz as being "pie-eyed" which is an old term for drunk. The music playing has a big-band sound, like Duke Ellington, who not only scored Otto Preminger's earlier film, Anatomia di un omicidio (1959), but played a character named Pie Eye.
