Paris' betrayal of Menelaus and seduction of Helen mirrors the Arthurian mythological story of Uther and Igraine. In the Arthurian myth, King Uther Pendragon broke his alliance with Gorlois, Duke of Cornwall because he lusted for his wife Igraine, Duchess of Cornwall and Uther seduced Igraine.
