There one was a rumor speculated that the original concept started out as Michael Myers vs. Jason, and planned since the early 1990s, only to be scrapped because Michael and Jason were too similar and wanted two different killers to make it more interesting. However, this wasn't true as the original concept for a Freddy vs. Jason started in the 80s and Sean S. Cunningham bought the rights of the Jason character to New Line in 1992 to get a crossover going.
