There is a top ten hit songs associated with all of John Hughes' teen movies. In Una pazza giornata di vacanza (1986) the song is "Oh Yeah" by Yello (known commonly as "bow bow chicka chicka" by the phonetic in its lyrics); in Sixteen Candles - Un compleanno da ricordare (1984) the homonym "Sixteen Candles" by The Stray Cats; in Breakfast Club (1985) "Don't You (Forget About Me)" by Simple Minds; in La donna esplosiva (1985) the too homonym "Weird Science" by Oingo Boingo, and Bella in rosa (1986) the by third time homonym "Pretty in Pink" by The Psychedelic Furs. Music is a huge part of all of Hughes' movies, and Breakfast Club (1985) is no exception; although except for the Karla DeVito's "We Are Not Alone", with MTV dance montage; and the ongoing riffs on the theme song; this movie has the least musical montages of any of Hughes' movies. Sixteen Candles - Un compleanno da ricordare (1984), Una pazza giornata di vacanza (1986) and Bella in rosa (1986) sample many more randomly selected songs in it's soundtrack than Breakfast Club (1985) does. It's all part of the carefully controlled atmosphere Hughes is trying to establish in this very serious encounter group therapy movie.
