The concept of having a celebrity's head in a jar was originally used in I Simpson: Bart Gets Famous (1994). Bart sees himself in the future on Match Game, in this show which Bart is special guest as the boy who said "I didn't do it." The regular guest Kitty Carlisle appeared as a head in a jar.
