This movie was filmed during the actual standoff between the Branch Davidians and the FBI and the ATF, during David Koresh's (Tim Daly) "they're laughing at us" tirade to his flock, the cast and crew had just found out the real Davidians committed mass suicide by fire, hence the somber moods.
