Although Richard Pryor's Gus Gorman was widely promoted as the film's villain, he actually wasn't really, he was just a washed-up worker helping the film's main villain, Ross Webster. Near the films end, he ends up saving Superman's life (when the supercomputer is using kryptonite on him).
