It has been speculated that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles (2008), the television series based on the Terminator films, was an influence behind the film. The television series, which takes place after Terminator 2 - Il giorno del giudizio (1991) are alternate events, which Terminator 3 - Le macchine ribelli (2003) and Terminator Salvation (2009) never happened. Cameron Phillips, the female Terminator in that series (Summer Glau), states that she comes from the year 2027 and that Skynet got activated and started the nuclear apocalypse in 2011, not 1997. When Sarah, John and Cameron travel ahead to 2007 they arrive naked in the middle of a freeway, and Catherine Weaver is revealed as a T-1000 Terminator who killed the real Catherine Weaver, the head of Zeira Corporation, and took her place.
