The film's writer Enda Walsh and the director of Segment III is Paloma Baeza are related to Cillian Murphy. Murphy played the main character in several plays written by Walsh. Baeza was a former actress and appeared in Sunburn (1999) with Murphy. She recommended Murphy as the male lead of the film to her husband Alex Garland, the writer of the film 28 giorni dopo (2002).
